Runway work progressing
03.06.09
The £7.2m programme of work to resurface the main runway at Aberdeen Airport is well under way, the Press & Journal reports. The project started in March and is expected to be completed by late October. It involves removing the top layer of the runway and replacing it with a new surface, which is expected to last for over 15 years.
Contractors are working on the runway overnight to minimise the impact on passengers. A spokesman said the project is going exactly as the airport hoped it would. She told the newspaper: ‘There has been little disruption to airport operations and very little impact on those living near the airport. The resurfacing is going really well and everyone is working extremely hard to make it as smooth as possible.’
