Growth at Aberdeen Airport set for take off

Airport operator BAA has predicted Aberdeen airport will experience annual growth of 5.2% over the next ten years. BAA said that the airport faced a period of quite exceptional opportunity in the coming decade.
The predicted growth follows development at the airport, including terminal upgrades and a string of new routes. Bosses are hopeful the city council will back plans for a runway extension, which could lead to additional services.
BAA made the claims as it launched its formal takeover defence, telling shareholders the £8.75 billion hostile offer from infrastructure firm Ferrovial failed to recognise potential growth of the air travel market. BAA has also turned down a proposal worth around £9.4 billion from investment bank Goldman Sachs.
