Residents slam airport bus change

Residents in Moray have slammed route changes made to buses visiting Aberdeen Airport, the Press & Journal reports.
Bus company Stagecoach dropped the airport as a destination for the number 10 service on May 26. It replaced the service with a number 224, which goes to Blackburn for those wanting to take the number 10 to Moray, Nairn and Inverness. But some passengers were unaware of the changes, including a couple who waited for 2 hours at the airport’s bus stop for the number 10.
The couple had to pay for a taxi to take them to their home 60 miles away, having flown in from an extended break in the US. They told the newspaper: ‘At the end of a long journey, it’s the last thing you need. It wasn’t just us, there were other people waiting for the same bus to get to Inverurie and they ended up jumping on another bus.’
‘The 224 came in twice when we were there. You would have thought the driver might have said something, or at least a sign in his window to say go on that one instead of the number 10. We think the bus company could have done a lot more to let people know about changes, it had only been changed for 3 days.’
A spokesman for Stagecoach told the newspaper that changes had been made because buses travelling in and out of the airport were finding it difficult to stay on time for other destinations. It was decided that changes to the number 10 service would cause the least amount of disruption.
She said: ‘A number of service changes came into effect from this date and the steps we take to inform passengers include displaying travel news posters on buses three weeks in advance, posting details of the changes and downloadable timetables on our website and stocking new timetables in our outlets in advance of any change.’
