Big jump in airport parking costs

There has been a big jump in the cost parking at Aberdeen Airport, the Evening Express reports. Prices have increased by up to 53%; it now costs the same to park for four hours as it previously did for twelve.
The new car park fee increases were introduced when the new £5 million short stay car park was opened at the Aberdeen Airport terminal. This offers an additional 500 spaces over two floors. An airport spokesman told the newspaper that millions of pounds have been spent on improvements and that its charges remained competitive compared to other UK airports.
The spokesman confirmed charges for parking in either of the two short-stay car parks had been increased on the day the new parking deck was opened. A number of new tariffs have been introduced, while some existing tariffs have increased. Defending the new prices, she said: ‘We operate like any other business. We must recoup what we spend.’
