Go-ahead's Aviance win BA handling contract

Aviance UK, the aviation services arm of Go-ahead Group, has agreed a £60 million five-year deal to take over British Airways ground handling operations at Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester airports.
BA said when it announced the move in March that it could no longer sustain in-house ground handling at the 4 airports after selling its BA Connect regional flights business to Flybe. The disposal will reduce in-house ground handling at the airline by more than 40% and would affect about 730 BA staff.
Aviance will take over the operations on a phased basis, starting on June 12 and to be completed by July 11. BA staff have the right to transfer to Aviance under TUPE employment regulations.
