Two Eastern Airways flights targeted by lasers
14.01.09
Two passenger planes landed safely at Aberdeen Airport after the pilots were targeted on their approach by powerful green lasers. It is thought the lasers were directed from the Mastrick or Northfield area of the city. Police said the two incidents happened between 18:00 to 18:30 on Tuesday.
An Eastern Airways spokesman said: ‘As two of our flights were approaching Aberdeen Airport to land a laser from the ground was aimed at them. Our pilots reported the incidents to police as they were extremely concerned that safety could be compromised during the landing approach by the irresponsible actions of an individual on the ground.’
