Smokers waiting to fly out of Aberdeen Airport could soon be allowed to light up in a special area outside the terminal, in a bid to stop passengers setting off fire alarms, the Evening Express reports. Currently they are banned from lighting up after they have passed through security.
Managers at the airport are considering putting up an outdoor shelter or creating a special area for smokers after security checks following several instances of smoke alarms being set off by passengers having a cigarette in toilets. Another UK airport operates a smokers area, but charges passengers to use it.
