Councillor investigated over airport theft

A councillor is at the centre of a police investigation into an alleged theft at Aberdeen Airport, the Press and Journal reports. Conservative Alan Donnelly, who works part-time for a baggage-handling firm at the airport, has been reported to the procurator fiscal’s office.
The member for Torry and Ferryhill told the newspaper that the allegations were a ‘big hullabaloo’, which had been ‘blown out of all proportion’. He confirmed that he has had his security pass withdrawn by airport managers, and that he had been interviewed by the police as part of their investigation.
The incident earlier this week involved the alleged theft of bottles containing liquid, with the items having been taken into an area of the airport where they were restricted. A Grampian Police spokeswoman told the newspaper: ‘We can confirm that a 54-year-old male has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with an alleged theft.’
