Safety recommendations over Aberdeen - Wick crash landing
16.02.08
Air accident investigators have made a number of recommendations after the landing gear failed on a flight between Aberdeen Airport and Wick in 2006.
The crew of the Eastern Airways Jetstream aircraft were unaware the landing gear was not working. The aircraft's under carriage and the tip of one of its propellers touched the runway at Wick Airport as it came in to land before the crew pulled it back into the air. The landing gear eventually worked and the plane landed safely at Aberdeen Airport.
Four safety recommendations were made in a newly-released Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) report, which include fresh testing of landing gear warning systems.
