Flyglobespan cancel Wednesday Murcia flights
16.03.07
A new flight to Spain's Costa Blanca from Aberdeen Airport has been cancelled by low-cost airline Flyglobespan before it even took-off for the first time. The airline announced in October it would operate summer flights between Aberdeen and Murcia on a Sunday and Wednesday from April 29. But it has removed the Wednesday flights from its website and confirmed that they would not be going ahead due to a lack of passengers.
A spokesman for Flyglobespan said: 'We are launching a major programme of flights from Aberdeen this summer and in general have been very pleased at the interest and uptake. However, any company must listen to what the market says and it was apparent there isn't the demand for two flights a week from the airport to Murcia.'
'Passengers affected can transfer to the Sunday flight free of charge or have a full refund. We apologise for the inconvenience and remain committed to bringing low-fare flights to Aberdeen.'
Also due to start next month are three flights a week from Aberdeen to Palma, twice-weekly flights to Faro, Alicante and Barcelona and weekly flights to Cyprus and Tenerife. The airline will base a new Boeing 737-700 jet at Aberdeen airport.
