Vomiting bug at airport hotel

Thirty guests were struck down with a vomiting bug at an Aberdeen Airport hotel over the weekend, the Evening Express reports. People were even vomiting at the front door of the Marriott hotel in Aberdeen’s Dyce. However, Aberdeen City Council health officers launched an investigation and found no problems with food at the hotel.
The outbreak happened on Sunday at the busy airport hotel. A guest told the newspaper: ‘People were being sick outside. I don’t know what caused it. There seemed to be lots with it. I think it was a 24 hour thing.’
A NHS Grampian spokesman told the Express: 'We are currently investigating an outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea associated with a hotel in Aberdeen. Approximately 30 guests have reported symptoms.' An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman added: ‘Environmental health officers visited the hotel but found nothing untoward.’
Chris McGuinness, general manager of the Marriott Hotel Aberdeen Airport, said: ‘A small number of guests reported sickness over the weekend. Inspectors visited the hotel concluded there was no evidence of this being a food-borne illness. The possible cause is an airborne norovirus. We are unaware of any further cases since the weekend.’
