Flyglobespan scraps another route - one only announced last week

Just seven days after announcing a new route between Aberdeen Airport and Jersey, Scottish budget airline flyglobespan has scraped the route, which was only expected to launch next July. The news comes a few days after the airline face criticism for cancelling another flight from the airport, after saying seven days earlier that the flight was safe.
Earlier this month the airline came under-fire when it axed six of its eight winter routes from the airport - a total of 174 flights between November and March - sparking outrage among passengers who had to change their holidays and fly from other airports, some at quite short notice.
Then, in the midst of the problems, when passengers were struggling to get through to the airline and it was forced to launch a dedicated phone line, it faced more criticism for announcing the new route between Aberdeen and the Channel Islands. At the time, as spokesman claimed that the announcement 'underlined its commitment to Aberdeen Airport.'
A spokesman for the airline said a change in timetabling had led to the latest route cancellation cancellation. He told the newspaper: 'Jersey was set to use the same plane and go on the same day as Aberdeen - Paphos (Cyprus).'
'We were then offered a later but much better Paphos slot which, unfortunately, meant the Jersey flight time would have been coming too close to closing times of Jersey Airport. We have therefore had to pull Jersey flights and thought it best to do so as quickly as possible.'
He added: 'This will not affect its commitment to other routes.' Some customers due to fly with the airline this winter might justifiably ask 'What commitment?'
