New airport car park to be approved
18.04.09
Plans for a new 1014-space car park on land next to Aberdeen Airport have been marked for approval by planners. The site, at Newton Cottage Farm in Dyce, is agricultural land currently used for grazing. The terminal lies to the north-west of the site, aircraft stands to the north, and the southern end of the main runway and taxiways lie to the east.
The application, which is set to go before the city council's planning committee on 23 April, seeks permission for a change of use from agricultural land to a surface car park. The plans show an indicative car parking layout for 1014 spaces, including 38 disabled spaces at the end closest to the terminal.
Planners have recommended that the application is approved, on conditions including that the car park is used only by airport staff, and passengers and visitors and a shuttle bus service between the car park and passenger terminal at the airport is provided.
