Houston flight launch delayed

City Star Executive announced today that Aberdeen Airport's first scheduled transatlantic route - to Houston Texas - is facing delays. The news comes despite statements just 10 days ago by the airline that the route was still on track.
Atli Arnason, chief executive of City Star, said: 'It is extremely unfortunate that we are facing delays in the launch of this new service. We can however assure the business community that it will commence with ongoing support and sufficient commitment from potential customers.'
'The reason for the change to City Star's business plan is due to a number of unforeseen changes to its aviation operations in Aberdeen [the airline recently launched its own baggage handling operation at the airport], a down turn in the financial climate and higher fuel prices since this venture was announced.'
