Plane overshoots runway at Aberdeen Airport

19 passengers have had a lucky escape when their plane overshot the runway at Aberdeen Airport by hundreds of yards last night. However hundreds of other passengers faced major delays and disruption with their flights, after the incident caused the runway to be closed and flights to be diverted to Edinburgh airport.
The City Star Airlines plane, en route from Stavanger, Norway, skidded off Aberdeen's north runway shortly before 21:00 last night. The runway did not reopen until around 23:00, with investigations in to the incided expected to continue throughout the night. It has been reported that there may have been a problem with the jet's throttle.
It is hoped the airport will be open for business as usual this morning, but passengers were advised to check with their airlines for up to date information.
