24.11.07
Plans for a new luxury hotel have been unveiled for Aberdeen Airport. The £15 million hotel will be built on Argyll Road, within walking distance of the main passenger terminal.
With 180-bedrooms, it will be the first Courtyard by Marriott in Scotland and will feature a massive conference room for corporate events and social functions as well as a terraced outdoor restaurant. There will also be an 'oil crew lounge' where offshore workers can await transfer.
Ed Fuller of Marriott hotels, said he was thrilled to be investing in Aberdeen. He said: 'We believe this hotel type has terrific potential in the city. While it is not our normal approach, we are investing in and developing this particular hotel ourselves, which demonstrates our faith in it.'
Plans have already been submitted for two other hotels forming a £20 million development at the airport. These new airport hotels would provide almost 300 rooms and 1000 long-stay car parking spaces.
