Christmas getaway fails to take off

Passengers were ‘well short’ of expectations on what was supposed to be one of the busiest days of the year at Aberdeen Airport yesterday, the Press & Journal reports. 9,000 people were expected to pass through the terminal, but actual figure was much lower as travellers made alternative arrangements because they feared disruption at the airport and elsewhere.
A spokeswoman for the airport told the newspaper: ‘Around 9,000 passengers were booked on flights to and from the airport and we were expecting it to be one of our busiest days of the year. It ended up being well short of that. The final number will probably be much like any other day.'
‘Some passengers made alternative travel arrangements fearing their flight would be cancelled by the suspended BA strike. It is also likely passengers have made other plans because of the heavy snow both here and in Europe.’
