Airport security update for football fans
25.11.07
Aberdeen fans heading for the Uefa Cup game in Madrid this week have been issued a reminder on airport security rules. They have been reminded that sharp items - such as Skean Dhus which fans in kilts may have - cannot be carried through security and must be stored in check-in baggage, and that any liquids must be in containers no larger than 100mls.
Aberdeen Airport and Aberdeen Football Club hope the reminder will allow fans to make a smooth start ahead of Thursday's Atletico Madrid game. More than 1000 supporters are expected to fly from the airport for the Uefa tie on Wednesday and Thursday.
Airport managing director Kevin Brown said: 'Being aware of the restrictions on the carriage of items including sharps and liquids will help supporters reduce the time they and their fellow fans spend passing through the security process.'
