'Stupid' man tries to board flight with loaded gun

A German man was arrested late last week after he tried to board a plane at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport bound for Aberdeen with a loaded gun in his hand luggage. A Dutch police spokesman called the man ‘stupid.’
Dutch airport security staff discovered the loaded gun during hand luggage checks and arrested the man. Police said he gave various different explanations about why he had a gun with him, had no license for the gun, and said the weapon was most likely stolen.
The man was released from custody, as a judge ruled there were no signs was planning to use the weapon. However, he faces charges for illegal weapon possession. A police spokesman said it is very rare for passengers to try to board a plane with a loaded gun. He added: ‘This is very stupid, to say the least.'
