Investigation after near miss
27.05.08
The UK aviation authority is investigating a near miss between a military aircraft and an Aberdeen Airport bound passenger flight at 11,000ft, the Press & Journal reports. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has confirmed that an Aircraft Proximity (airprox) report has been filed after an Embraer 135 passenger plane and a military aircraft came too close to each other on April 10.
The incident happened 10 miles north-west of Norwich at 08:46, when the E135, which can carry 40 passengers, was en route to Aberdeen. The newspaper reports that the flight was a scheduled bmi regional flight, but no one from the airline was available for comment last night.
The Aircraft Proximity report is now being considered by the UK Airprox Board, which investigates all near-miss incidents involving aircraft in British airspace.
