Airport expansion could generate £620m
28.07.10
Development plans at Aberdeen Airport could contribute £620m to Scotland’s economy over the next 30 years, according to a new report. The expansion will offer £1.1bn of economic benefits, according to research commissioned by the airport and Aberdeen City & Shire Economic Future (Acsef).
A report by York Aviation says the airport currently supports 3390 jobs and creates £114m gross value added (GVA) in Aberdeen city and shire alone and £126m GVA Scotland-wide each year. Progress on the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route is identified as key to ensuring the continued growth of the airport, as is the introduction of new air routes.
